Power Quality Audit

DS SYSTEMS’s Power Quality Audits provide a comprehensive and
cost-effective power quality investigation service. The audit
identifies and quantifies power quality problems and recommends
mitigation measures to ensure that the equipment performs adequately.
Critical Space Management
The
UPS space scheduling problem for business houses and large enterprises
has received relatively little attention from researchers and
practitioners. We now have sophisticated methods of planning and
analyzing the sequence of tasks within the work breakdown. We know that
congestion on site reduces output and generates hazards, yet
construction planners presently have to rely upon experience and
intuition. After a review of recent developments in construction space
scheduling, the concept of critical space analysis is presented by DS
SYSTEMS. This forms the basis of decision support tools presented for
using up available office space, allocating unused spaces, and
analyzing and optimizing space.
Battery Management
UPS
batteries are chemical energy storage devices that deteriorate over
time. They have a design life based on optimum site conditions and an
expected number of charge-discharge cycles. A five year design life
battery will probably require replacement within 4 years and a ten year
design life battery within 7 years. Whilst many UPS and standby power
systems automatically test their batteries, nothing beats a visual
inspection and on-site testing.
DS
SYSTEMS replacement service provides on-site testing to assess and
report on the performance and suitability of the battery set. During
testing we will check individual cell condition, total battery capacity
and the remaining reliable operational life.
During
a maintenance visit the entire battery set will be put through a five
stage process to ensure optimum performance during a power failure. The
five stage Battery Care process includes:

Visual: check for a variety of conditions dependent on battery type:
- VRLA batteries - check for distortion caused by plate/pole growth, leakage or corrosion.
- Flooded cells - check for plate colour,
sediment level, electrolyte level, leakage and corrosion.
- NiCads - check for leakage and corrosion. |

Measurements: take DC float voltage measurements - string and individual cells. |
|
Mechanical:
clean all batteries, confirm the minimum torque on all connections, top
up electrolytes where possible (not sealed lead acid batteries). |
|
Electrical Tests: impedance test individual battery cells and strings, and load test the battery if necessary. |
|
Environment
Checks: check the suitability of the local environment in terms of
ambient temperature and any noticeable humidity and other environmental
matters. |
Finally a site report is issued with recommendations for future system monitoring or battery replacement.
Testing Facility
Use
of UPS has increased by many folds in the recent past due to the
deteriorated power quality,
increased use of computers, communication & medical equipments. The
quality of UPS available in the market is very poor due to the use of
inferior technology & substandard material to reduce the price. DS
SYSTEMS has set up UPS testing facility at Guwahati and is operational
since one decade.
